कार्तिक शुक्लपक्ष के अंतिम पांच दिन (एकादशी से पूर्णिमा तक) पुष्कर में विशेष महत्व रखते हैं। सूत जी
के अनुसार, पूर्वकाल में पापों से युक्त रहने के बावजूद केवल पुष्कर स्नान करने से मनुष्य स्वर्ग को चले
जाते थे। इस कारण अग्निष्टोम यज्ञ, उत्तम कर्म, देव पूजन, पितृकर्म और जप आदि सभी बंद हो गए। लोग
केवल पुष्कर में स्नान करके स्वर्ग में जाने लगे, जिससे स्वर्गलोक मनुष्यों से भर गया। यह देखकर
देवताओं के मन में चिंता उत्पन्न हुई।
तब इंद्र, सभी देवगण, विष्णु और शिव ने मिलकर ब्रह्मलोक में ब्रह्मा जी की अनेक प्रकार से स्तुति की।
उन्होंने कहा, ;हे देव! आपने जो पुष्कर तीर्थ बनाया है, इसके प्रभाव से स्वर्ग मनुष्यों से भर गया है। पापी
मनुष्य कैसे देवताओं के समान हो सकता है? इस पर ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा कि जहर का वृक्ष भी लगाकर
काटना वर्जित है इसलिए कार्तिक मास में पुष्कर का अपमान नहीं करना चाहिए। इसलिए, उन्होंने निर्णय
लिया कि पुष्कर तीर्थ को अंतरिक्ष में रखा जाएगा।
ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा कि कार्तिक शुक्लपक्ष के अंतिम पाँच दिन छोड़कर, यह तीर्थ अंतरिक्ष में रहेगा। इन पाँच
दिनों में तीर्थ पुष्कर भूतल पर विद्यमान रहेगा। अन्य दिनों में मंत्रों से आह्वान करने पर पुष्कर तीर्थ
अंतरिक्ष से धरती पर आएगा।
इसलिए, यदि आप इन पाँच दिनों के अलावा किसी अन्य दिन पुष्कर तीर्थ में स्नान करना चाहते हैं, तो
आपको पहले सूक्त की प्रथम तीन ऋचाओं के मंत्र द्वारा पुष्कर का आवाहन करना होगा। ऐसा करने से
यह तीर्थ आपके लिए उपलब्ध हो जाएगा। मंत्र इस प्रकार हैं:
1. आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस्था न ऊर्जे दधातन। महे रणाथ चक्षसे।
2. यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयतेह नः। उशतीरिव मातरः।
3. तस्मा अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ। आपो जनयथा च नः।
इसके बाद, अघर्षण मंत्र का जप करने से पुष्कर तीर्थ में स्नान आपके लिए पूर्ण फलदायक होगा। अघर्षण
मंत्र इस प्रकार है: 1. ओ३म् ऋतं च सत्यं चाभीद्धात्तपसोऽध्यजायत। ततो रात्र्यजायत ततः समुद्रोऽअर्णवः।
2. समुद्रादर्णवादधि संवत्सरोऽअजायत। अहोरात्राणि विदधद्विश्वस्य मिषतो वशी।
3. सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ धाता यथापूर्वमकल्पयत। दिवं च पृथिवीं चान्तरिक्षमथो स्वः।
इस प्रकार, इन विशेष दिनों में पुष्कर स्नान का महत्व और विधि का पालन करके श्रद्धालु महान पुण्य
प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।
Importance of the Last Five Days of Kartik Shukla Paksha (Panch-Tirtha Snan) :
The last five days of Kartik Shukla Paksha (from Ekadashi to Purnima) hold special significance in Pushkar. According to Sutji, even sinful individuals in ancient times could attain heaven merely by bathing in Pushkar. This led to a decline in other religious practices such as Agnistoma Yajna, virtuous deeds, worship of deities, rituals for ancestors, and recitation of mantras, as people were content with bathing in Pushkar to reach heaven. This overflow of souls into heaven caused concern among the gods.
Seeing this, Indra, along with all the deities, Vishnu, and Shiva, praised Brahmaji in various ways in Brahmalok. They said, ;O God! Due to the influence of the Pushkar Tirtha you have created, heaven is filled with sinful humans. How can sinful humans be equal to the gods?; In response, Brahmaji emphasized that just as it is forbidden to plant a poisonous tree, disrespecting Pushkar Tirtha in Kartik is unacceptable. Thus, he decided to keep the Pushkar Tirtha in the cosmos.
Brahmaji declared that except for the last five days of Kartik Shukla Paksha, this Tirtha would remain in the cosmos. During these five days, Pushkar Tirtha would be available on earth. On other days, one must invoke Pushkar Tirtha through mantras for it to descend to earth.
Invocation Mantras for Pushkar Tirtha :
If you wish to bathe in Pushkar Tirtha on any day other than these five, you must first invoke Pushkar using the first three verses of the Sukta. The mantras are as follows:
1. आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस्था न ऊर्जे दधातन। महे रणाथ चक्षसे।
Āpo hiṣṭhā mayobhuvasthā na ūṛje dadhātana. Mahe raṇātha cakṣase.
(May the waters be established and may they grant us strength, O Lord of the mighty.)
2. यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयतेह नः। उशतीरिव मातरः।
Yo vaḥ śivatamo rasastasya bhājayateha naḥ. Uśatīriva mātaraḥ.
(He who is the essence of auspiciousness, may He bless us as a mother does.)
3. तस्मा अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ। आपो जनयथा च नः।
Tasmā araṃ gamāma vo yasya kṣayāya jinvatha. Āpo janayathā ca naḥ.
(We invoke you, O waters, grant us that which is eternal and pure.)
After this invocation, reciting the Agharsana Mantra will ensure fruitful bathing in Pushkar Tirtha. The
Agharsana Mantra is as follows:
1. ओ३म् ऋतं च सत्यं चाभीद्धात्तपसोऽध्यजायत। ततो रात्र्यजायत ततः समुद्रोऽअर्णवः।
Oṃ ṛtaṃ ca satyaṃ cābhīddhāt-tapaso'dhyajāyata. Tato rātryajāyata tataḥ samudro;arnavaḥ.
(Om! From Truth and Righteousness, the cosmos came into being; from it night arose, followed by
the ocean.)
2. समुद्रादर्णवादधि संवत्सरोऽअजायत। अहोरात्राणि विदधद्विश्वस्य मिषतो वशी।
Samudrād arṇavād adhi saṃvatsaro'jājayata. Ahora-trāṇi vidadhad viśvasya miṣato vaśī.
(From the ocean, time was born, governing day and night for the universe.)
3. सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ धाता यथापूर्वमकल्पयत। दिवं च पृथिवीं चान्तरिक्षमथो स्वः।
Sūryācandramasau dhātā yathāpūrvamakalpayat. Divaṃ ca pṛthivīṃ cāntarīkṣamatho svaḥ.
(The Sun and Moon were created by Him as before, along with the heavens, earth, and space.)
Conclusion
By following the importance and procedures of bathing in Pushkar during these special days, devotees can attain immense merit (punya). Engaging in this sacred practice is believed to lead to spiritual upliftment and blessings from the divine.
